Chime it forward

At Chime®, financial progress isn’t just something we deliver through our products. It’s something we live in our culture, our values, and how we show up for our communities. Two of our core company values, Win Together and Be an Owner, guide how we show up for one another and for the communities we serve. That shared commitment is the foundation of Chime It Forward®.

Every year, our Chime It Forward initiative mobilizes Chimers across the country for a dedicated season of service. From local food drives and mentorship programs to volunteer days and donation campaigns, Chime It Forward is how we take our mission—helping everyday Americans unlock financial progress—and extend it into the neighborhoods, causes, and communities around us.

Heading into our third holiday season, this year is our most ambitious Chime It Forward effort yet. With over 3,000 acts of service and hours already logged in just a few weeks—and more to come—we’re scaling what it means to be a force for good, from the ground up.

Culture at scale: The Champions Council

This year, we launched the Chime It Forward Champions Council, a volunteer-led group of Chimers helping organize, promote, and scale our impact across the company.

“The Council is a culture amplifier,” explains Jonathan Kurup, Social Impact Partnerships Manager. “Its members—our Champions—are passionate Chimers from across functions who help bring service opportunities to life, build partnerships with local organizations, and serve as trusted go-tos for fellow Chimers looking to get involved.”

Why a council? Because we wanted to build the infrastructure to help Chime be a force for good—not just through our products, but through our people, too. “The council gives our Champions agency, visibility, and support to make an impact in the communities they care about,” Jonathan explains. This approach is a core way we put our values to Be an Owner and Win Together into action. Champions are stepping up to be owners of the causes they believe in—and building the connective tissue that helps us win together as a company. From planning volunteer events and leading cross-functional partnerships to tracking impact and sharing resources, they’re helping turn good intentions into real outcomes at scale.

Real impact, right now

From coast to coast, Chimers have been stepping up in big and small ways this season. Here’s a look at some of the initiatives already underway:

  • In New York, Chimers volunteered at NY Common Pantry, helping prepare meals, organize produce, and pack bag lunches for families facing food insecurity.

  • In San Francisco, teams donated and delivered coats to families through Hamilton Families and packed care kits for underserved youth.

  • In Chicago, Chimers participated in the T4Youth Table Tennis Tournament to support tech education on the city’s South Side and are planning a care bag donation drive to help foster youth and unhoused youth feel dignity during the holiday season.

  • The Growth team made giving back part of their onsite, packing over 150 swag bags for Chime Scholars in under an hour.

  • Chimers across the country joined the Veterans Day Challenge, logging 1,639 miles and raising $4,000 for American Corporate Partners, an organization that supports veterans transitioning into civilian careers.

  • At Chime HQs and virtually, Chimers supported the Chime Scholars Foundation through a full week of activations, packing 250+ care packages, writing 150+ finals notes, and mentoring scholars through mock interviews and resume reviews.

Some teams gave back over lunch: the Accounting team helped prepare meals for the holidays with GLIDE SF, and dozens of Chimers signed up to mentor young innovators through Project Invent.

And we’re not done. With more volunteer days, donation drives, and mentorship events still ahead, the season of service continues—and our momentum is growing.

Chime as a force for good

At Chime, our approach to community engagement is intentional and always evolving. Programs like Chime It Forward reflect how we think about impact—not just through what we build, but through how we show up.

The Champions Council is one example of that mindset in action. By empowering individuals across teams to lead on causes they care about, we’re creating new pathways for service, connection, and culture-building, both inside and outside of our walls.

Financial progress doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s shaped by the everyday realities people face: access to food, education, safety, health, and opportunity. As we grow, we’ll continue to look for ways to support those foundations—alongside our members, and in the communities we’re part of.

Chime It Forward may be one season of service, but with the Champions Council now in place, that spirit will carry on year-round.
